Happy Sunday!

Hey, not too much going on my end today. Went to St. Michael's Abbey with Claire and Paul after staying up way too late and I'm pretty tired. I heard yesterday a bit of news that slipped under a lot of radar. The Holy Father has confirmed that the Society of St. Pius X (heretofore much maligned by mainstream Catholic conservatives) is not under excommunication. This reaffirms a good deal of what I've believed for a while. I started attending Sunday Mass at church of the SSPX a few years ago while at T.A.C. and it was very taboo at the time. I'm not sure how many people will actually change their minds on anything, but I know the Holy Father hopes for unity and I think this is a step in the right direction.

I've got to write a couple of ridiculous papers this weekend, concerning the importance of gear accountability and marking things with one's name. Some stupid crap went down this Friday. We had a field gear inspection, just to make sure everyone had things like their magazines, sleeping bags, packs and whatever. We are supposed to label our equipment with our last names (using pre-made name tape labels. I lost my name tapes and so didn't have my stuff labeled. So I and some other Marines because of me had to write these meaningless papers. The funny thing is that a lot of dumber things happened during the week that no one got punished for when they should have. I think I was made an example of because it's the first time I've given them an opportunity. It's annoying, but it says good things. I don't screw up, so they have to jump at the chance to show me up. Got to love the Marine Corps. Semper Fi and more later.

Welcome to the Wasteland

Back by popular demand (well, at least one person asked me about it) is my blog. I think this title goes back to my first one I had in high school, in fact. Well, I don't want to make any great promises because I've blogged and quit before, but at the very least this will be a forum in which I may voice my experiences and opinions on the world and the denizens thereof. I like to hear from you all too. Maybe I'll even post some pictures once in a while. So, if you took the time to check this out at all, wilcommen and please come again. Let's see where this goes in the next few weeks and months.
